The plugin adds a page under Settings > Payloadless with three groups of switches. Each one is independent and takes effect as soon as the settings are saved.<\/p>\n\n

Front end: disable emojis, disable embeds, clean up the head, remove jQuery Migrate, remove Dashicons for visitors, remove block library CSS on classic themes, remove the password strength meter, disable RSS feeds.<\/p>\n\n

Editor and admin: Heartbeat API mode and interval, autosave interval, post revisions to keep, disable remote block patterns.<\/p>\n\n

Background: disable self-pingbacks, disable core XML sitemaps.<\/p>\n\n

Only the safe switches are on by default: emojis, embeds, head clean-up and self-pingbacks. Everything else is off until you turn it on.<\/p>\n\n

The plugin contacts no external service and sends nothing anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n

  1. Upload the plugin folder to wp-content\/plugins or install the zip from Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.<\/li>\n
  2. Activate the plugin.<\/li>\n
  3. Open Settings > Payloadless and review the switches.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

    Will YouTube and other embeds still work with embeds disabled?<\/h3><\/dt>\n

    Yes. The switch stops other sites from embedding your posts and turns off discovery for unknown providers. The providers WordPress knows keep working, including previews in the editor.<\/p><\/dd>\n

    Does it cache or minify anything?<\/h3><\/dt>\n

    No. It only removes things WordPress loads by default.<\/p><\/dd>\n

    What happens with the block library CSS switch on a block theme?<\/h3><\/dt>\n

    Nothing. The switch applies only to classic themes.<\/p><\/dd>\n\n<\/dl>\n\n\n
