Instalación

Automatic Plugin Installation

To install this plugin using the built-in plugin installer:

Go to: Plugins > Add New
Type in Molongui Authorship in the Search box
Click on the Install Now button
The resulting installation screen will list the installation as successful or note any problems during the install
If successful, click Activate Plugin to activate it, or Return to Plugin Installer for further actions

Manual Plugin Installation

To install the plugin manually:

Download the plugin to your computer
Extract the plugin folder to your desktop
With your FTP program, upload the extracted plugin folder to the wp-content/plugins/ folder in your WordPress directory
Go to Plugins screen and find the newly uploaded plugin in the list
Click on Activate link to activate it

Requirements

In order to run, Molongui Authorship requires:

PHP version 5.6.20 or greater. Considering WordPress recommends it to be 7.4 or greater, this should not be a problem.
WordPress 5.2 or later.

Preguntas frecuentes

Will Molongui Authorship work with my theme?

Yes. Molongui Authorship is compatible with any theme. You may face some issues though, like the author box not having a style you configured or the author pages not listing co-authored posts. In such cases, you can open a support ticket with us and we will look into it to find a compatibility fix.

Can I use Molongui Authorship with Elementor, Divi and other page builders?

Yes.

Where is the author box displayed?

By default, the author box is added at the bottom of all your posts. However, Molongui Authorship provides you plenty of display options to change that. You can change the location to make it display at the top of the post content, hide it on some posts or disable the automatic display so you can decide on which handpicked posts it must be shown. The Pro version of the plugin allows you to hide the author box based on the post category.

Can I display the author box on a page?

Yes. Unlike other author box plugins, Molongui Authorship allows you to show the author box on both posts and pages. To be able to display the author box on pages, go to Authors > Settings > Author Box and find the Display panel. There you can configure Molongui Authorship to automatically display the author box on pages.

Can I use Molongui Authorship on custom post types?

Yes. You need the Pro version of the plugin to enjoy the features on custom post types.

I have two author boxes. How can I hide one?

The second author box might be a theme feature and you will need to turn it off from your theme’s options screen, or hide it with custom CSS. Please refer to this support article to know how to proceed. If that doesn’t help, you can open a support ticket with us so we can assist.

Where are all the available social networks? I can’t see them all…

To avoid clutter the edit screen, some social networks are not displayed by default. To configure which networks to display, go to Authors > Settings > More and find the Social Networks panel. There you can pick the ones you need.

Why some social media profiles are premium options?

Those social media networks which are intended for business and professional networking are only available in the Pro version of the plugin.

Environment Report: This can give us a lot of very useful information. Navigate to Authors > Help! and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There you will see a panel labeled as **System Status Report System Status**, jsut press the Send Report button.

I am using the Pro version of the plugin on a site running the Newspaper theme from TagDiv, which is essentially a badly-coded mess with a proprietary page builder that makes WP Bakery look good by comparison. Molongui’s support site actually informs users that there are only three WordPress themes, out of 30,000 or more, that their plugin has issues with, one of those being Newspaper and their cloud templates library. As I had bought the plugin prior to realizing this, I reported the problems I immediately experienced to Molongui support and then came across their info about compatibility. My experience in working with WordPress for the last eight years or so, is that with any other plugin that was upfront about which themes it was incompatible with, I would either have been told to switch to a different theme that adheres to WordPress coding standards and best practices, and/or perhaps been offered a refund. Instead, John, one of the developers, literally spent hours on our staging site basically hacking his own plugin to work around all the Newspaper theme’s shortcomings. It’s very rare to experience this level of support, even when the problems are with the developer’s own code, much less with someone else’s, and I would say the support deserves around 6.5 stars, were that an option.

This is a great plugin, but the problem arose when the author post count stopped after the last update, it needs to be fixed. Moreover, Author Posts and Author Bio tabs have disappeared. Overall performance is satisfactory.

We used both free and pro versions. The plugin has major performance issues for sites with large userbase. It will likely work fast when you have up to 10 users registered on your site but once you have 200k users list it will bring issues. Post admin becomes slow, page admin becomes slow. Front pages also add slow quires that kill your site performance when loading that pages. We submitted ticket to support forum. Developer offered some solutions that finally didn’t work. We though it could be resolved via public updates but pity, never happened almost after a year wait. We would use it if developer had the ability to optimize queries properly and not going through all user list when making queries on each page and in pages admin. Thank you! UPD: changed on July 2024 to 4 stars since plugin author managed to fix performance problem reported.

After installation I was having some issue as the writers and contributors were not linked to their archive pages (I am using a custom template to display my posts), I contacted the support and I received quick response from them.They realeased two consecutive updates to resolve my issue. Special thanks to «John Locke» for contacting me with the solution on an urgent basis.I wish all the very best for the team for their outstanding customer service. Thanks guys, you people are awesome!
