Installation

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

AUTOMATIC INSTALLATION

Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t even need to leave your web browser. To do an automatic install of Bookly, log in to your WordPress admin panel, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.

In the search field type “Bookly” and click Search Plugins. Once you have found our plugin, you can install it by simply clicking Install Now. After clicking that link, you will be asked if you are sure you want to install the plugin. Click yes and WordPress will automatically complete the installation.

MANUAL INSTALLATION

The manual installation method involves downloading our plugin and uploading it to your web server via your favorite FTP application.

  1. Download the plugin file to your computer and unzip it.
  2. Using an FTP program, or your hosting control panel, upload the unzipped plugin folder to your WordPress installations wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  3. Activate the plugin in the WordPress sidebar menu –> Plugins.

How to upgrade to standard version of Bookly?

The standard version of Bookly is available for purchase and download here. After you’ve installed Bookly, remove Bookly Lite through FTP. We strongly recommend FTP-removal of Bookly instead of using WordPress, otherwise you may lose all your data and get your database corrupted.

How much does it cost?

Bookly Lite is a free version of Bookly which can be used for the unlimited period and contains most of the basic features. The standard version of Bookly costs $89 and includes six months of customer support and lifetime free updates of the plugin.

I’ve installed Bookly Lite. How do I get it running?

To start using Bookly, you’ll need to add a staff member and at least one service. To publish a booking form on your website, go to the Pages/Posts and click on the “Add booking form” button.

Where do I go to change the appearance of the booking form?

Appearance section in Bookly menu is the place to start with. Change the colors, rewrite interface texts, show/hide particular fields, and much more.
If you want to remove fields make sure you only check the right boxes to the booking form.

Do I need to know how to code in order to install or use Bookly?

No, if your website runs on WordPress.
You can access all Bookly capabilities from the admin area, which will be an integral part of your WordPress dashboard.

How do I set up SMS notifications?
  1. In Bookly menu –> SMS Notifications, click on “Register” in the login form on the left side of the page;
  2. Top up your balance by one of the standard $10, $25, $50, or $100 amounts (transaction processed by PayPal);
  3. Set up the scheduled execution of the shell script. Location of the script:
    ..wp-content/plugins/appointment-booking/lib/utils/send_notifications_cron.php;
  4. Choose notification types and build your messages using tags: tick a checkbox, and an editor field will open. Write the copy, format it as you like, and add personalized data using shortcodes that you’ll see just below the text edit window.

Time scheduling issues

I for hours tried to get the lite version to work as I’m thinking if the timing issues were corrected with my fiddling, then I would buy the pro. After I compromised and the times / services duration don’t match, the plugin will not send appointment notifications.

Right now the time of services do not match the available appointment slots. Every booking software is missing something I need. lets squish them together to get all the features.

Very complete and configurable.

I tested the Lite version and then I installed the plugin and addons Chain Appointments.
It works very well.
Support is very fast and answers all the questions.
The different videos allow to analyze if the product corresponds to your needs.

Full version has bad license

Lite version is GPL, but Full version is not 100% GPL. Full version license is unclear.

If we develop for business, unclear license is something to avoid. Bad license means bad overall.

We need to learn why lots of developer leaving React. because bad license comes with dirty surprise.

Waste of my time

You cannot add more than ONE staff member, which means you cannot add different time slot availabilities for different services, the staff member’s availability controls the available times that a customer can choose. This was a complete waste of time and a huge disappointment. I am so annoyed. If anyone has suggestions on other free booking plugins I can use let me know. All I wanted was to be able to create services, prices, and date and time availability for clients to be able to choose from.
Thanks for the work you put in, but it felt like a scam, you should just call it a demo because you cannot do much with the lite version.

Fab plugin but a bit buggy

I have been using this for my site and thought it was great until I started having some severe issues that makes it unusable. The main issue I have is that I can add any services to the backend any longer – this functionality just stopped working which makes it useless. I have had some other ongoing issues and even paid for additional support to help fix. My business takes lots of bookings with this plugin but I am becoming very hesitant to continue with it because it keeps breaking.

I would give it 5 stars if it was reliable
